The Winter of our Discontent

John Steinbeck

Smelling notes by James Akubinkoso

This smell transports me back to the coffee shops I visited in mid-west America in the early 2000s. It has notes of old leather arm chairs in autumnal colours, worn leather.

The stores in the US, these are so different from their British counterparts, some blurring the lines between libraries and coffee shops. They are really vibrant places. I bought this book from one of these second hand bookshops. It smells sweet and comfy.
