The House Across the Street

Lesley Pearse

Smelling notes by Elania

I picked my book up at a charity shop yesterday, expecting it to smell like someone else’s life. My first sniff smelt woody and reminded me of slightly burnt homemade popcorn, something I used to make at my grandad’s. My second smell reminded me of ikea furniture with the woody smell, something I have an odd link with as my house is full of it which always feels very showroomy. My third smell just reminded me of cork and new sandals, so I have a horrible feeling no one has ever read this book!
